you gotta be kidding’

Not exactly. This is true. A Spanish magazine says that sleeping with red lights can help you eliminate depression. Contrarily, if you’re sleeping in cool color lights, bluish kind of, like the one coming out of television, computer and cell phone, you’re likely to fall victim to a variety of negative mood changes that would even trigger depression in a longer run.
Now a days, many people are in the habit of using mobile phones and laptops while going to bed. Many people leave television switched on as they fall asleep. Some claustrophobic kids insist on leaving the CFLs switched on during their sleep, and some adults leave the light bulbs on out of lethargy. Result can be deleterious as these practices can lead to an impaired mental health.

On the other hand, sleeping in red lights has positive effects. It elevates mood. It combats depression. Randy Nelson of Ohio State University, USA, analyzed the stimulatory effect of photosensitive cells of retina on state of mind. And now it’s established that different colour of lights can effect different type of mood changes. While the cool colours trigger depression during sleep, the warm colour prevents the same.
So next time when you got to sleep, make sure that either you sleep with all the lights switched off, or with a small red light bulb glowing. The later is healthier.
